The "I" Word

Conservative Magazine Human Events conducted a poll of its readers recently. The results were surprising. 621 registered voters were asked "Would you favor or oppose the impeachment by Congress of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney?". 39% were in favor, 55% were opposed with 6% undecided. If you break the numbers down further, it gets even more dishartening for the Bush Administration. Of the independents polled, 42% are in favor of impeachment and removal from office. Independents are those swing voters that factored big in the 2006 Midterm Elections and will be courted by both parties in the 2008 Presidental Elections.

If the Neocons in The Congress want to even be close to power after 2008 they need to listen to these independents. As the Neocons slide further away from The President they also need to consider impeachment to distance themselves enough to stay in office. As Iraq falls futher into disarray and U.S. Casualties climb as we "go into the bad neighborhoods" that percentage of independents that support impeachment is going to grow.
