Dear Representative Burton,
Times are a changin'. Yes they are. You remain in power because Hamilton County's voter base is, by and large, older and conservative. As those people die off, younger, more liberal folks are replacing them.
My friends and I are becoming a larger and larger part of the voting public. We WILL NOT STAND for this war! Fifty-seven percent (57%) of The People of the United States polled earlier this month supported the recent War Funding Bill introduced by the Democratic majority. We want this war to end, and we want it to end now. We can no longer tolerate the following: deaths of 3,404 soldiers, the 30,000 soldiers wounded, the ridiculous $421.1 billion (estimated) spent so far on this war and the estimated deaths of 65,000 to 650,000 (depending on who you believe) Iraqi civilians. That is a horrific war record.
Furthermore, we are outraged and embarrassed to have the leaders we have. Conservative magazine Human Events recently conducted a poll of its readers, asking them if they supported the impeachment of the President and Vice President. Forty-three percent (43%) of those people said "yes." I suggest you stop toeing the party line and distance yourself from this administration. You're up for re-election next year. If you wish to remain in office, you should support Representative Kucinich when he introduces articles of impeachment. We demand that you support any legislation regarding the withdrawal of our military from Iraq or benchmarks and timetables for the Iraqi government.
Regards,
