Vice-President Cheney made a surprise visit to Iraq today. Cheney's visit is part of a larger middle-east tour and he used today's stop to discuss the U.S.'s growing impatience with the Maliki led government. During the Vice-President's visit to the heavily defended Green Zone a mortar round landed close enough to shake the windows in the building he was in. This morning in Iraq's relatively peaceful Kurdish area a truck bomb was detonated, killing 14 and wounding 87.

From NPR's Morning Edition...A fast moving bush-fire is burning out of control in the Los Angeles area. Firefighters are trying to contain the fire in the historic Griffith Park area.
