Important Stuff

An Amnesty International report released today states that China and Russia, two UN Security Council members, are still exporting arms to Sudan in violation of the UN arms embargo. Editor’s Note: If the U.S. takes a strong stance on this, it could renew cold war tensions.

The FBI arrested 6 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey Monday evening in an alleged plot to kill soldiers at Fort Dix in New Jersey. The U.S. Attorney's office in Newark called the suspects "Islamic radicals". Three of the six suspects were in the U.S. illegally.

NPR's Day to Day reports that rescue efforts by the Kansas National Guard have been hindered by equipment shortages due to deployment in Iraq.

Local News

The Indianapolis Star reports that many precincts in Marion County were understaffed or unable to open this morning due to absent poll workers. County Clerk Beth White (D-Marion) apologized for any problems and personally took the blame for any problems. This is the first election that White has overseen.

In The Noblesville Ledger today… a 1993 Hamilton Heights graduate was extradited from Florida to face charges stemming from an alleged 2005 child molestation incident. Michael Cady, 32, formerly of Cicero, IN left the state while awaiting trial. He was found in a Florida jail on theft and forgery charges.
