I'm very tired of picking up dog crap from my yard that is not my dog's. Every day I come home and there are 2 or 3 fresh piles in my front lawn. Let me tell you something, the reason there are laws requiring you to pick up your dog's droppings aren't because it is annoying to step in dog crap. It is because that almost every domestic dog has parvo living in their gut, even if they have been vaccinated against it. Your dog may not be sick because he has antibodies from a vaccination, but it is likely he may still have the parvo virus in his gut.
Parvo virus lives in the digestive tract of dogs, and viruses and virus particles are expelled when the dog defecates. If you don't clean up after your dog, wild dogs (foxes, coyotes and wolves), attracted by the scent, will investigate the feces left behind by a domestic dog and can easily be infected by parvo. Wild dogs have no natural immunities nor are they normally vaccinated for parvo, or anything else. Parvo is very infectious, easily passed between dogs by physical contact or contact with feces, and is particularly bad for pregnant and nursing mothers and puppies. Parvo will run unchecked through a wild dog population, killing the majority very quickly.
Additionally if dog waste isn't removed, it finds its way into the water supply and you end up drinking it, or eating it. Isn't that pleasant?
Make sure you pick up your dog's crap, that is unless you hate nature. If you hate nature, pick it up because someday someone is going to catch you letting your dog crap in their yard, and they're going to make you eat it.
