Important Stuff

Attorney General Gonzales was called before the Congress today to answer more questions regarding last years firing of 9 U.S. Attorneys. When this story first broke the reasoning given by the AG and the Bush Administration was they were let go for performance problems. Since then the administration has admitted that personal politics did come into play. Members of Congress from both sides of the aisle have called for Gonzales's resignation, but AG Gonzalez and President Bush are adamant that they have done nothing wrong, nor should Gonzales step down.

Prime Minister Tony Blair announced that he will resign after 10 years on June 27th. Mr. Blair has been PM of England through many crises, the death of Princess Diana, the 2003 invasion of Iraq and 7/7.

President Bush, under increasing pressure from members of his own party has agreed to negotiate with Congress on a war-spending bill with benchmarks for the Iraqi government. Bush Administration officials have become increasingly nervous about a bill about to be passed in the House of Representatives which would cut off funding for the war by July.

Local News

A terrorism response drill was commenced this morning at 10am with the simulated detonation of a 10 kiloton nuclear weapon in downtown Indianapolis. This exercise will involve public safety officials from across the country as they respond to the simulated emergency. Hamilton County public safety units are prepared to deploy from Fishers this evening to assist with casualties.
