Important Stuff

Bill Richardson officially announced his candidacy for President today. Richardson (D-NM) has been governor of New Mexico since 2003 and is the first Democratic governor of that state since 1995. He is considered a long-shot and, if elected, would be the first Hispanic in the White House.

Congressional Democrats, in a concession to the Bush Administration, started discussion of a new Iraq War funding bill. The proposed bill would fund the war through September of this year. It does not, however, have the timelines for withdrawal, and it does have billions of domestic spending cut from the budget.
